Surrogacy parliament on 7 September – calling BFS members to act now to inform the debate

On 7 September Parliament will debate whether UK surrogacy law should change. The debate is being introduced by Dave Robertson MP (Labour), with other backbench MPs having the opportunity to contribute before the government responds.

This is a great opportunity to influence the government and to encourage them to act – which so far, they have been very reluctant to do. There is so much misinformation being circulated about surrogacy that it is crucial your MP is given full and accurate information.

So please email your MP and ask for their help and support and send them the briefing which members of the Special Interest Group on Law, Policy and Ethics have drafted.

To help you do this, we have sent all BFS members an email with some suggested text to adapt and use, and also information about how to find out who your MP is and how to find their email address.

We don’t when there will be another opportunity to influence the debate surrogacy – so please do take action.

If you get a response from your MP, please let me know as it is useful to build a list of MPs who may be helpful.
