Safety, risks and quality (ART)
The SIG aims to integrate a multidisciplinary team including clinicians (including urologists), nurses, quality managers, embryologists, andrologists, counsellors and administrators from all clinics (private and NHS) to discuss challenging difficult clinical, laboratory or regulatory scenarios.
This SIG intends to form a unified group/ forum with key representatives from all clinics to share learning and experience, discuss safety and quality issues and contribute to national guidelines.
Objectives of the group
– To form a multidisciplinary forum to discuss possible solutions to practical problems arising in delivery of fertility related issues.
– To share learning when new policies or innovations are introduced.
– To discuss areas for risk minimization: OHSS risk, VTE risk, and reduction of multiple pregnancy, risks in the laboratory like failed
fertilization, poor embryo development etc.
Areas of discussion ( Not limited to the below)
– Complications such as hospital admissions post retrieval of oocytes, VTE, OHSS
– Adverse events or near misses
– Discussion forum for management of national drug and/or consumable shortages and possible alternatives in the UK
– Sharing of best practices, identifying needs and areas for improvement, thereby improving overall patient care
– Discussion covering HFEA alerts and Clinic Focus
