Research and Innovation
The Research & Innovation SIG aims to guide, inform and support development, delivery and dissemination of clinical research and innovation in Reproductive Medicine.
Research attempts to improve our scientific knowledge, to answer uncertainties, provide evidence for therapeutic interventions and improve treatment outcomes. Innovation is fundamental to earlier diagnosis, increasing accuracy, improved patient safety and delivery of better outcomes for patients through new technologies and improved system design.
Key objectives:
- Engagement
- Promotion of research and innovation training and opportunities
- Priority
- Stakeholder voice for clinical research and innovation in Reproductive Medicine, replacing the legacy Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) Reproductive Medicine Clinical Studies Group (RM CSG).
- Submission of PICO research questions to RCOG research, to recommend research proposals to National Reproductive Health Speciality Group and influence commissioned calls.
- Patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) involving people in all aspects of Reproductive Medicine research and innovation, making it easier for patients, service users and members of the public to be involved in the design of research, as well as having the opportunity to participate.
- Delivery
- Development of R&I SIG network
- Facilitate cross-sector, collaborative approach for UK multi-centre trials in Reproductive Medicine
- Triangulation of research active clinicians with academia, industrial and pharma partners
- Dissemination
